Irish Artists Anne Cleary & Denis Connollys Hall of Mirrors exhibition aims to explore the world of visual perception using visual and motion sensing technology and attempts to merge the worlds of science and art. By inviting you to become part of the exhibition, by using augmented digital mirrors and by drawing you into the interactive nature of their work they attempt to break down the traditional barriers of artistic rhetoric that say "don’t touch, don’t think and don’t be creative, we’ve already done that for you, you can just look…" And now, with the help of the Irish RPA, the artists have teamed up with computer scientists Conor Gallagher and David Monaghan from the CLARITY research centre to bring you the “The Look Both Ways” app, which brings the Hall of Mirrors exhibition straight to your phone.
The App contains several visualisations that replicate some of the effects used in the Hall of Mirrors exhibition. You can now replicate human perception experiments conducted over 100 years ago by looking at the world upside down or in negative; experiment with Colour Pathways in a live video stream and even swop colours over; reflect and experiment with the perception of movement by only displaying moving objects in the Moving Still visualisation; and experience the 4th dimension of video with Time Slice.
